Hands-on Fire Extinguisher On-site Training

Real World Fire Extinguisher Training

at Your Facility

Safety – The Destree Consulting, Inc. safety fire training system is inherently safer than the standard flammable liquids fueled “pan” fires used generally by your local fire extinguisher business.

Fire Extinguisher Training

Unlike the flammable liquids fueled fire training props, our LP fueled training props are controlled by an LP industry approved and listed quick-reacting shut-off valve controlled by the Range Safety Officer at the training sessions. This safety feature shuts off the training fire in most scenarios in less than one second.

When using flammable liquids fueled fire props, in the event of an emergency, the prop cannot be shut off unless the fire is extinguished. Our LP system is also infinitely adjustable. This allows the instructor to adjust the fire prop fire size to the skill level of the participants for safety and challenge to the trainee.

Environmental Concerns and Public Relations – The Destree Consulting, Inc. LPG safety fire training system uses clean burning propane or butane which produces no smoke pollution.

The “no-smoke” fire training system eliminates a variety of difficulties found with traditional flammable liquids fire training systems; negative attention drawn to your facility via neighbors thinking that there is a fire at the facility, air pollution generated by the flammable liquids smoke as well as the lack of environmental disposal concerns with hydrocarbon contaminated water from the flammable liquids used during training.

Realistic training and preparation for actual emergency incidents is always our goal for all of our emergency response training classes.
Covered in the classroom portion of the training;
  • The dynamics of how fires initiate and grow.
  • The speed and spread of various types of fire
  • How fires are affected by interior and exterior factors.
  • Knowing when to fight and when to call in the professionals at 9-1-1.
  • The effective and safe use of the proper extinguisher available to the worker.
  • Wheeled fire extinguisher safe use procedures.
  • Specialty fire situations combustible metals, air reactives.
  • Foam extinguishing can be added is site or process applicable.
  • Compressed and Liquefied Gas fires and hazards & control

Petroleum and Industrial Facility Fire Training -

Realistic fire extinguisher firefighting training safety is our primary goal. But, as some would try to represent, spraying a simulated fire extinguishing agent at a computer screen is not our idea of preparing your employees for the very real fires and hazards that could occur at you facility. Fighting real fires is the only method to develop competency in fighting real fires.

The Destree Consulting, Inc. LPG safety fire training system is completely adjustable to your employee’s level of experience. Our instructors are professional firefighters with years of experience as certified instructors to safely and realistically train your employees to react in those critical first few moments when a fire can be stopped in the initial stages before becoming uncontrollable.

Remember a majority of businesses that have a significant fire on their premises never reopen. The dynamics of flammable liquids and flammable compressed gas fed fires in industrial settings is covered as well as fires involving electrical equipment and combustible metals such as aluminum, magnesium, sodium and lithium. Upon completion your employees will be prepared for your facility’s unique hazards.

Industrial and University Laboratory Fire Training -

For laboratory fire training understanding the differing characteristics of gas system and gas cylinder fires; benchtop chemistry fires; reactive (air – pyrophoric and water reactive) materials fires; combustible metals fires such as sodium, potassium, NaK alloy, lithium are explored. The hazards of time sensitive chemicals such as peroxide & super-oxide formers, fume hoods accumulation hazards with the use of HClO4, and storage hazards of HF, HBr lecture (and larger) cylinders are discussed.  Ordinary combustible fires, any fire which involves electricity and the like are examined and proper emergency response techniques covered.

The recent tragic death of a California university grad student working with pyrophoric chemicals reminds all industrial and university laboratory managers of the critical importance of proper risk management and training of lab workers to use fire extinguishers, safety showers and burn blankets. The capability and limitations of flame resistive clothing and lab coats are also examined.
Safety – First, Last and Always
The instructors at Destree Consulting, Inc. have trained literally thousands of participants to safely and effectively use fire extinguishers over many years and never had a trainee injury - so you can see we are passionate about safety; as well as effective and realistic fire extinguisher training.
